To start off Blogging August, I thought I would write a little about me, an introduction.
The Blog
I'm running this site as I just loved the Neocities idea, and moreso the idea of Zonelets (the framework/engine behind this site). I especially had fun creating this sites theme! I aimed for something retrofuturistic, I sure do love the futuristic aesthetics of the 2000s/Frutiger Aero.
All in all, this site gives me a place of me own, on the internet! If that's not cool, I don't know what is! ;D
The Klonoa Background picture came to be that I learned about the Klonoa Games (saw some artwork of it, and as I like Sonic, I thought it certainly interesting, and damn, I was not disappointed) while I was making this site. Liking it a lot, I will probably not change it.
Generally, I will mostly write to this site when I want to/have a spark of inspiration. Don't expect something too regular. But if you love older games and odd art programs, stick around! Sometimes I have also written about my creative processes.
I might also not write so often, as I'm somewhat of a perfectionist. I try to be better with it, as for example with this post. I have the feel like I'm losing coherence already! But that's just how I write I suppose ^^
Also, the Art and UTAU/Music section will be outdated pretty often, cause I kind of can't be bothered to update them regularly. If you want my newest creations, keep an eye on my YouTube Channel!
Me
I love doing a lot of creative disciplines! Mostly, I draw and make music, or combine these two dimensions by making videos!
When making Music, I like to use the Vocal Synth software OpenUTAU! (I want to write a more accurate post about this too!)
All these disciplines work well hand-in-hand too! I drew up a whole character for my UTAU voicebank (these virtual voices always have avatars, e.g. Hatsune Miku (most popular)) and I also draw up my album covers :D
I like writing too (this blog and I tried my hand on short stories), and I've also looked into 3D Modelling.
I also love reading! More on this shortly!
I also code and write programs! Lately I've been working more again on making games! I've been writing something for the DS, which I want to show off in a future post! I also love Game Maker, especially Game Maker 8 (this will also be subject of another post!). I'm classically trained in Programming, so I'm having a lot of fun with more odd/unusual techniques/frameworks in my freetime, like the old Game Maker, Hammer Editor, and really all sorts of Script/Map Editors! For the NDS, I have rediscovered DS Game Maker, somebody apparently made it work better on modern operating systems!
Also, I use Linux mostly. I dualboot for the odd program that just stubbornly refuses to work on Wine and also for some games that just don't work so well (looking at you Epic Games and EA, and especially scornful at Ubisoft)
My first language is German! But I write this blog in English, as it just sort of feels right. (And also more people will understand it). Maybe I will write a post about that too, I have the feeling it would be weird for me to write this all in German, as I've always used the internet in English (using English in my everyday life would also feel weird on the other hand). It is hard to describe, thus I would need a whole post for it!
I really love the Nintendo NDS/3DS era, but also played before and beyond. Some games I like:
- Jet Set Radio / Future (Stay tuned for a post about the GBA demake!)
- PAYDAY/PAYDAY 2 (used to play a lot!)
- Team Fortress 2 (also having a little dry spell on that game)
- Crazy Taxi
- OneShot
- Pokemon (a lot of them)
- Starbound (underrated) (also haven't played for a long time dang)
- 999
- Rollercoaster Tycoon 2
- Deltarune and Undertale
- Mirror's Edge
- and many more! ...
...
lot of 2s there...
I also like the Sonic Franchise a lot! (SA2, Sonic Rush, the classics...)
I don't like writing these sections.. I love a lot of games! Some I haven't played in a long time, but I would still love them .. I feel similiar for Music, I listen to a lot of music, a lot of genres, I could name you my current favorite, what I'm currently listening too regularly, but there is a lot of other music I also loved so much in certain time periods. I would certainly go back to that music from time to time. So whatever you do, never ask me to name my favorite! If you do, ask the plural, and that encounter will go smooth :P (This will also be it's own pose, don't mind me brainstorming here!)
I hope this mess of an introduction helped you understand what you could expect on this blog! See ya! (Crazy Taxi Announcer voice)
