...

Due to a multitude of reasons, this blog has been pretty empty lately.

Reading Aywren's Blog, I heard about Blaugust.

As the name suggests, it's about blog posting, in August. I joined and I hope I'll have time and energy to grab some award(s), I definitely collected some ideas already :> If this interests you, Aywren's post has all the important links!

So, this motivated me to try and write another post! And as concidence would have it, I found something that fits me and this blog perfectly! (with an idea this good, I can't wait til August xD)

so without further ado ...

WigglyPaint!

Seeing an artwork of Kasane Teto somebody made using this, I knew I had to try it. It looked similiar to Flipnote Studio, and I'm a big fan of these kinds of creative tools. I love mspaint, I love Tuxpaint, I love all these sillier approaches to art and drawing, I think it's just so much fun and a novelty to play around with these, see what kind of results you can get.

This tool was made by Internet Janitor, using their own framework 'Decker'. You can even run it locally in your browser as an .html file, no internet required!

It is important to note that not everything you see on the screen belongs to WigglyPaint, I was sort of confused in the beginning because you have selection and square tools under the Tool menu in the menubar. This actually belongs to Decker, I would recommend just not using the menubar, as you can easily break the program with it

I tried around the different tools under Tool, it just sort of pauses WigglyPaint and the animations, you can just draw over and fill in the background, these belong to the Decker Framework, same as the 'Card' menu which allows you to go between the different screens. Just use the onscreen controls, it's a simple tool :>

So, my first course of action was to draw my OC!

You can quickly see how the program gets it's name and appeal! All lines you make move and wiggle, and you can export everything in a nice repeating gif format c:

Now, an overview over the tools at your disposal! The lines change a bit if you go faster or go slow, so best try them yourself to get a feel for them!

These will always draw in the foreground colour (default: black)

Then you also have three markers, for which you can change the size. You also have the eraser at the bottom, and you can always undo the last change by pressing the 'Oops' button.

You only have 3 colours to fill in your drawings, you can adjust them via the options menu. You can also adjust the pen colours (foreground) and the background. By making the gif transparent, you can also draw with the mask brush, making it non transparent there and filled in with the background colour, effectively giving you 6 colours at most (3 markers, foreground, background, transparency)

For this post, I wanted to try to make another drawing! So here, have Calamus from OneShot! :>

Feel free to try it here!

I just have now seen all the texts and instructions they have themselves, but you don't really need it, just start drawing and have fun :D
